Who doesn't love shooting video? Turning video into a film is an epic endeavor. What better way to integrate art and education than filmmaking? It ignites the joy of learning in amazing ways and anyone can do it if they try!
Inaugurated in 2016, The Film Festival From MARS is an annual, inclusive event that showcases film and digital art produced by children who receive Special Education services and have a school-identified disability. Film projects eligible for submission include at least 50% participation by students with disabilities from grades k-12.

Trainers at "We Made This FILM" teach school-based therapists and educators how to engage children with special needs in filmmaking, empowering students to create culture, information, and entertainment.
Why? Because we believe children and youth with special needs deserve access to high-quality, project-based, and arts-based activities and programs. Filmmaking is a fun and empowering vehicle for meeting students' educational, emotional, social, and developmental needs.
Our students’ perspectives and talents matter. They deserve to be heard, celebrated, and enjoyed in connection with the community at large. That’s why we founded the Film Festival From MARS in 2016 to showcase films made by students with special needs.
You don’t need to be a former Hollywood director to learn how to incorporate filmmaking into your teaching and therapy practice. We’re here to help you get started and to take every step along the way.
